Pastor Arlis Downs
Founder Living Truth Ministries
Pastor Arlis Downs and his wife Mary founded LTCare – an outreach of Living Truth Church – in 1986. Their small congregation in Little Rock began serving the poor of Pulaski County with boxes of food delivered directly to the homes of the elderly and disabled.
In 1993, Pastor Downs began transitioning the food delivery portion of the ministry to Jim Phillips and working to make LTCare a more ecumenical outreach, inviting believers from many different churches and traditions to participate in being the hands and feet of Christ to the poor of Central Arkansas.
Pastor Downs and Mary still lead the congregation of Living Truth and support the work of LTCare both here in Arkansas and in Central America.
Jim Phillips
Co-Founder Love Truth Care Ministries
Jim began to volunteer with LTCare and Pastor Downs in 1991, while on staff at Union Rescue Mission. In 1993 he became the Director of LTCare Ministries and Pastor Downs returned to pastoring Living Truth Church fulltime.
Four years later God directed Jim to expand the work of LTCare by leading mission teams to Honduras. Since that first trip to Tegucigalpa in 1997, Jim has facilitated dozens of construction and outreach teams, and in 2004 began leading surgical and medical teams through Operation New Life.
Jim and his wife Ouida live in Little Rock and continue, by God’s grace and with the help of many wonderful volunteers, to direct the local food ministry while also working in Honduras.
